Green Your Business

August 12, 2010

going green in businessWhether in response to public and media criticism or as a true call to action, there is no denying that what’s good for the planet is also good for the bottom line of any company willing to “go green”.  Many of the country’s largest, most recognizable companies and businesses are taking steps to do their part to help the planet.

Businesses and companies across the country (and the world) are beginning to realize that consumer attitudes about environmental issues are changing, and are reacting accordingly.  Giant corporations like Wal-Mart, Nike, General Electric, and Burger King, as well as Gap, Motorola, and even Anheuser-Busch have committed themselves to a variety of environmental causes and concerns.

Some may argue that these businesses are motivated more by profits than by environmental action.  In the end, businesses will still make money, so why not have them help the planet at the same time.  Incorporating an environmental agenda using eco-friendly products can help put you at the forefront of a world that is becoming increasingly aware of environmental issues.

Consumers are definitely responding to this new green movement, and are allowing their wallets do most of the talking.  In fact, one recent report published by PricewaterhouseCoopers found that about 40 percent of technology executives recognize that this new environmental movement is creating significant market opportunities for their businesses or companies. Beyond just profits though, programs and initiatives that are eco-friendly are placing these businesses and companies at the front of the line of this new environmental movement, leading to greater product promotion and publicity, as well as improved public perception and a better overall reputation.

By making the move to using biodegradable plastic bags you are making a statement to your customers that you too are eco-aware and eco-friendly.  Regardless of the size of your business or company, this small move can represent a great deal of change to your perception and your profits.
